Shopping in Allerdale & The Lake District
Retail is detail so delve into the energy of the Allerdale shopping scene. Pretty, tree lined Cockermouth Main Street is full of independent shops. Keswick is an outdoor capital with all major retail outdoor brands and characterful independents. including the world famous George Fisher. Workington has a pleasant pedestrianised retail heart with all the major brands represented.

Big name shopping in Workington
We have big brand shopping centred on Washington Square in Workington. High street names there include M&S, Debenhams, Next, H&M, River Island, JD Sports, Clarks, HMV, and Laura Ashley. There is lots of parking very close to the shops. Keswick, the outdoor capital of the Lakes has an incredible number of major outdoor retailers including Cotswold Outdoor, Rohan, Blacks, Millets and Mountain Warehouse.

Cockermouth is a hive of independent shops providing individual shopping experiences. Annabelles Fashion and Zebra has unique fashion for women. Fagans is a treasure trove for keen cooks. Firns and J B Banks has all the hardware you will need, Strolling for Shoes, Goody 2 Shoes and SR Shoes have stylish footwear. Add in independent butchers, a well – stocked bookshop and plenty of independent cafes, a visit to Cockermouth is one that you will enjoy.


Equipped for the great outdoors in Keswick
Keswick has all the outdoor brand names that you know plus specialist independents. Needle Sports founded by local crags activist Steven Reid is a specialist climbing equipment shop only employing experienced climbers and walkers. They pride themselves on providing impartial advice. World famous George Fisher have trekking, running, cycling, camping, climbing & paddling specialists on hand to make sure you make the right purchase.
Markets in Allerdale
Allerdale is home to some fabulous outdoor markets. Indeed, Keswick Market, held every Thursday and Saturday in the Market Square, has won the award for the best large outdoor market in the U.K. Workington market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday in the town centre and Wigton market is held every Friday in Water Street car park. Silloth market takes place on Silloth Green every Thursday between Easter and October.
