Taste Cumbria’s markets in Carlisle!

Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November 2024

We’re coming to Carlisle! For the first time, Taste Cumbria will be bringing its food and drink festival to the heart of the city on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November 2024.

That’s the weekend of Carlisle Fireshow too – we’re joining forces to create one big blazing weekend of fun for all the family!

We’re also partnering with the Carlisle Farmers Market and setting up with them in the beautiful grounds of the Cathedral. Here’s the line-up so far:

  • 40 food and drink traders
  • Live music on the festival stage
  • Hot food stalls
  • Children’s activities and face painting
  • Street theatre
  • Fire-themed entertainment!

Stalls will be open from 10am to 5pm on the Saturday and 11am to 4pm on the Sunday.

And should we remind you Christmas will be just around the corner? You could start your shopping early…

This is Year One of Taste Cumbria Carlisle – watch this space for what comes next!

Taste Cumbria Carlisle Live Music Guide

We’re fitting our music line-up around the lovely sounds of the choir practice and services in Carlisle Cathedral, and including busking musicians so we don’t disturb them. Why not visit the Cathedral while you’re at the festival too?

Getting here

The nearest mainline train station is Penrith. Connecting buses take about an hour to transport you to Cockermouth. Alternatively, arrive via Carlisle Railway Station, then take the train to Maryport, then the number 68 bus or a taxi. If you are travelling by car, leave the M6 at junction 40, take the A66 west and you should be here in 40 minutes. For bus timetables throughout Cumbria click here.

Parking

If you’re coming to our festivals by car, here’s a handy link to some of the car parks in Cockermouth. If you’re parking on the street, please check local signs for restrictions. You’ll need a timing disc for many of them – these are available from many local businesses.

Accommodation

Make a weekend of it by booking some accommodation. Allerdale has an excellent range of accommodation from hotels, campsites and B&Bs to self catering. And don’t forget to visit the wealth of independent businesses in Cockermouth.

Most of the attractions including live music, the foodie demonstrations and children’s activities at the Taste Cumbria festivals are free to enjoy. Keep up to date on Facebook or Twitter
