Solway Coast -an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
The Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was designated in December 1964. The designation was in recognition of the quality of its landscape and the significant historic and scientific interest.
It stretches from Rockcliffe in the north to Maryport in the south. It covers about 115 square km of Allerdale. A good way to start exploring this fascinating area is taking a Secret Solway Tour.
