Allerdale’s festival and events scene mirrors the vibrant cultural life of our warm-hearted area.
Cockermouth is taken over by the area’s biggest food festival, Taste Cumbria Cockermouth
for a weekend in September and December. Keswick naturally hosts the major outdoor
festival, Keswick Mountain Festival, while Silloth hosts a fabulous annual
Music and Beer Festival on the Green in town.
Live music and entertainment will come to Workington on Saturday 17 November as a new ‘Tributes and Tunes’ event arrives in the town. Tribute acts for some top artists including Neil Diamond, Abba, Meatloaf and Bon Jovi will hit the stages in a range of pubs across town, plus a number of local bands will perform live, all from 4pm onwards. There is no need to book a place and entry to all venues and performances are free.
An event jam packed with entertainment throughout the day including live music, walkabout entertainers, face painting, fun fair, and storytelling. A local market stretches out onto the main street with a fabulous mix of independent local businesses selling tempting treats and beautiful hand-made gifts.
Join over 30,000 food fans in Cockermouth in September and December every year. A flavoursome mix of artisan producers gather on Main Street to delight and entice your senses. Add in demonstrations from top chefs and a slice of comedy, it's a heady brew not to miss.
The OVO Energy Tour of Britain returned to Allerdale in September for not one, but two, days. Stage 5 on September 6 saw the tour start in Cockermouth for a team time trial to Whinlatter Forest Park.
The following day, the tour started in Barrow, before arriving into Allerdale at Dunmail Raise. Heading through Keswick and over Whinlatter Pass, the riders then headed to Loweswater, Workington via Fangs Brow, Seaton, Broughton, Cockermouth, Castle Inn, back to Keswick before finishing at Whinlatter again.
Keswick Mountain Festival is your ultimate outdoors weekend. Challenge yourself with a world class sporting event, get inspiration from top speakers, then finish it all off with two evenings of live music. Every year in May.
Solfest is a family friendly music festival spanning many musical genres and eras. There's plenty to enjoy in addition to the music from walkabout performers, the green area workshop and the healing garden.
Around 60 real ales, many from Allerdale are featured with 22 draft ciders. For the non-real ale drinkers, there is lager, perry ciders, wine, soft drinks and water! Add in a fine selection of tribute bands, it has all the right ingredients for a great weekend. Every early September.
The festival promotes both the written and the spoken word, bringing people together in the beautiful surroundings by the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick. Meet top authors and writers every March to listen, talk, debate, learn. and have your favourite authors sign copies of their books for you.
Aspatria Music Festival, formally known as "Spyatstock" was originally setup in 2013 by local musician Damon McRea (of Brightside et al fame) and Matthew Turnbull in aid of CDH UK. It's an annual, not for profit festival benefiting charities. Join 1500 music fans every July.
Steam engines, classic cars, vintage tractors, classic motorcycles - Silloth Vintage Rally has it all and more. On the Green in the centre of town every June, the rally has plenty of food, drink and music to keep you mightily entertained.
Cockermouth Live! is a free, family friendly music festival that takes place on Cockermouth's fine Main Street. Held every July/August, it's an enjoyable event with a good vibe.
